At Kraaijeveld, we keep the lines with our growers as short as possible to always guarantee the freshest products for our customers. This also applies to our lettuce. In cooperation with a Dutch grower, we receive weekly deliveries of various types of lettuce. Every day, we receive fresh lettuce, ranging from iceberg to radicchio and Bionda, as well as lamb's lettuce, arugula, and spinach in various packaging options. A surprisingly well-arranged process
To guarantee the highest quality lettuce, everything starts with a detailed plan. Before the first seeds are planted, contracts are established. This allows our growers to create an accurate planting plan and precisely meet the demands of our customers.
Once the contracts are finalized, the necessary seeds and plants are ordered. The various types of lettuce are then carefully planted. We ensure that we always grow significantly more than the contract volume, so even in the case of poor harvests, we can still guarantee our weekly deliveries. Additionally, we work with multiple growers, ensuring we can always rely on extra product and maintain a stable supply.
To stay on top of the season’s planning, new lettuce is planted weekly. As soon as the lettuce is fully grown, the daily harvest begins. Immediately after cutting, the lettuce is cooled, washed, and either packaged or placed in crates, depending on customer preferences. The lettuce is then transported to Maasland or, when possible, directly to the customer.
By managing this tight supply chain, we are able to provide our customers with fresh, high-quality lettuce every week, straight from Dutch soil.
