Now that temperatures in Europe are rising again, the time has come for the change of seasons of fresh fruit and vegetables. Many varieties of fruit and vegetables are then grown in Europe. In the case of citrus, this means that the overseas season is here. South Africa, Argentina and Brazil are popular countries from which the citrus is imported in the European summer. What about the Kraaijeveld citrus products?
Grapefruit, oranges and mandarines
The overseas season of citrus has started at Kraaijeveld, too! We expect to receive fresh grapefruit and mandarins every week. At this moment (week 20) the first Grapefruits and Mandarines did already arrive.
In week 20, we received the last oranges from Egypt and we are now in a transitional phase between Egyptian and South African oranges. The Spanish orange season is also coming to an end. Maroc Late oranges will be available during this transition! Our supplier is currently preparing the first shipment of oranges for transport to the Netherlands, which we expect in about a few weeks. The Turkish and Israeli grapefruit season has also ended.
Limes and lemons
Also of limes and lemons we expect to receive fresh arrivals every week. Our limes are from South Africa. Next to that, we will be receiving the first Mexican and Honduran ‘Exquisita’ limes soon.
Apart from our lemons from South Africa, we currently also have lemons from Argentine, namely ‘Siciliano’, ‘Roselina’ and ‘Trapani’.
