Anyone who thought that sweet potatoes fell under the category "potatoes" was wrong. The sweet potatoes is not a potato, but a root vegetable. It forms the tuberous root of a plant. Originally, the sweet potato comes from Mexico, while the root vegetable is now grown in many countries with a warm climate. The sweet potato is also known as yam.

For example, American sweet potatoes are available in the months of October to July, the sweet potatoes from Kraaijeveld come from Honduras in the winter season and during summer we look closer to home. The sweet potatoes then are imported directly from our grower from Egypt. The seasons follow each other seamlessly. For example, the last American sweet potatoes will be delivered on Monday week 31, while the first Egyptian potatoes were just unloaded today (Friday week 32). In the meantime, we are working hard in America to process the new harvest, which we can deliver in early October.
